Are we living in an artificial intelligence bubble?

19/08/2025

When the CEO of OpenAI—the company leading the artificial intelligence revolution—issues a warning, the tech world listens… or should do so.

Sam Altman just declared in an interview with The Verge something that sounds both like a confession and a provocation:

“We may be in an AI bubble.”

And this is not just anyone saying it. This is the architect behind GPT, the mind that powered the tool that is transforming industries, education, government… and the employment of millions.

What does it mean to be in a bubble?

Historically, a bubble inflates when expectations exceed reality. When the narrative sells more than the real value. When everyone invests without understanding. Sound familiar?

From startups raising millions with vague promises to gurus selling courses on “how to master AI in 7 days,” the ecosystem begins to saturate with smoke, noise… and little strategy.

⚠️ Is AI overvalued?

No. But it is misunderstood.

AI is not magical. It does not solve everything on its own. And it will not automatically replace humans. However, it can enhance, automate, transform, and accelerate if used with focus.

The problem is not that there is a bubble. The problem is being unprepared if it bursts.

What should we do then?

  1. Lower expectations, raise understanding. It’s not about using AI out of trend, but by strategy.
  2. Invest in judgment and vision. Not everything that glitters is ChatGPT.
  3. Build on solid foundations. Processes, ethics, purpose.

If it bursts… what remains?

What remains are those who do understand how it works.

What remains are those who trained their teams with AI First.

What remains are those who don’t “use” AI… they integrate it with purpose.

AI is not going to disappear. But opportunists without strategy will.
