AI is already replacing jobs we once thought were secure

21/06/2025

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) has surpassed limits that once seemed impossible, affecting entire jobs and industries.

Example 1: AI programming code better than humans:

  • OpenAI developed Codex, a system capable of writing and correcting code in seconds.
  • Tech companies have already reduced developer teams because AI is faster and more efficient.

If AI can program, what does this mean for the future of software engineers?

Example 2: AI can already perform creative jobs:

  • GPT and DALL·E generate texts, images, and videos in minutes.
  • This puts jobs in marketing, design, journalism, and audiovisual production at risk.

Real example: Companies are already using AI to automate the writing of articles and generate visual content for advertising campaigns.

Are we facing a crisis in the creative industries?

Example 3: Customer service and automated services:

  • Advanced chatbots are replacing thousands of customer service positions.
  • Financial and insurance companies are already using AI to analyze data and make decisions without human intervention.

Will speaking with a human in customer service be a luxury in the future?

Universal Basic Income: Solution or Utopia?

In the face of massive automation, some tech leaders have proposed a radical solution: Universal Basic Income (UBI).

What does it consist of?

  • Every person would receive a fixed income from the state, regardless of whether they work or not.
  • It would allow survival without employment, facilitating people dedicating themselves to other projects.

Countries that have tried UBI:

  • Finland: Experimented with 2,000 people. Beneficiaries reported less financial stress, but employment did not increase.
  • Canada: Implemented a pilot program that improved quality of life, but was canceled due to lack of funding.

How would it be funded?

  • Taxes on large tech companies.
  • Taxes on AI and automation.
  • Reduction of spending on traditional subsidies.

Is it viable?

  • For: It would ensure no one is left without income in a world without massive employment.
  • Against: It is costly and could disincentivize productivity and entrepreneurship.

If work disappears, how will the economy sustain itself?

A world without work… what would we do?

If tomorrow you didn't have to work, what would you do with your life?

Many believe that UBI would allow:

  • Focusing on art, science, or entrepreneurship.
  • Focusing on personal growth and well-being.
  • Collaborating with AI instead of competing with it.

But there is a dark side…

  • Some believe that without work, society would focus on leisure and digital distraction.
  • Work gives us purpose, could a society without mass employment fall into apathy?
  • Digital realities and virtual worlds could become the escape from a life without clear objectives.

The big question is not just economic, but philosophical:

If work disappears… what defines our purpose as humans?

Conclusion: AI is changing the world… are we ready?

  • AI is eliminating jobs faster than we imagined.
  • Universal Basic Income could be a solution… but it is not without challenges.
  • The real debate is not just economic, but existential: how do we redefine ourselves in a world where we no longer need to work?

So, the big question is:

  • Should we start preparing for a world without traditional employment?
  • Is UBI a realistic solution or just a utopian dream?
  • If tomorrow you didn't need to work… what would you do with your life?

Leave it in the comments.
