
Sensay Island: the first nation governed by Artificial Intelligence

In a corner of the Philippine archipelago, an experiment is emerging that seems straight out of a science fiction novel: Sensay Island, the first nation governed by a cabinet entirely composed of artificial intelligences that recreate 17 historical figures such as Marcus Aurelius, Winston Churchill, and Nelson Mandela.
This is not a game or a simulation. The idea is for each “member” of this digital government to make decisions inspired by the philosophy, speeches, and actions of their historical counterpart. Everything is conducted in a public and transparent environment, where any citizen—or rather, e-resident—can propose laws, debate policies, and track decisions in real-time.
A living laboratory of future governance
Sensay Island is not just a technical experiment: it is a trial of how a government run by AI could function.
